Low-carb living is as normal a part of American culture these days as livinlavidalowcarb.com blogger Jimmy Moore shows in the latest installment of hispopular “Livin’ La Vida Low-Carb on youtube” series. In Episode 60, Jimmy uses the example of a one-minute clip from a 2008 Lifetime movie starring teen R&B sensation jojo and actress Valerie Bertinelli in a fantastic made-for-television flick called “True Confessions of a Hollywood Starlet”: www.mylifetime.com The scene he shares with you is where the teen starlet (played by Joanna “jojo” Levesque) attempts to order a low-carb meal at a fast food restaurant. This scene is HILARIOUS because it’s exactly the kind of scenario real low-carb dieters face when they eat out. Google “35-Fit, Fat and Forty-One” then use the fancast link (about the 4th down) you can view the whole episode.
Bob’s doctor puts him on a high protein diet, but it also seems to be a low fat diet.He also mentions avoiding pasta and looking out for hidden carbs. He also says something about “you don’t have to turn anything purple” Ketosis strips i guess. The episode is funny but not real positive or accurate about the diet, but of course it’s Bob Newhart so it wouldn’t be.Still a great episode.

That would be cool if you can find it!

I was watching an episode of Bob Newhart (the old one where he was a psychiatrist) and someone mentioned low carb dieting. The didn’t talk about it much, but it was neat to see that referenced in a show of that age. I’ll have to see if i can find out what episode it was.

People think it’s an inconvenience to order differently than 99.999% of the rest of the world, but I consider it a high honor. Why? Because my weight and health have never been better since I started livin’ la vida low-carb! CONGRATULATIONS on your success. KEEP IT UP!!!

just wanted to comment that i totally go through this too lol. but i have tried almost every restaurant in our tiny town and can special order my meals and no one has yet turned my choices down. one restaurant even has a low carb section on their menu. its a nice thing to see. plus having several places that have salad bars is great.

this is the way i will eat for life. 95 lbs gone and only 45 lbs to go. finally under 200 lbs since high school!

keep up the great work as always!

  11. livinlowcarbman says:

Oh, I agree! I usually ask for a substitution like cheese for my bun and most agree.

  12. livinlowcarbman says:

I LOVE this song, too, Lynn! It’s actually by the young actress in this clip I showed. Her name is JoJo and the song is called “The High Road.” You’d think it’s called “A Little Too Late” as much as she repeats it. AMAZING vocals!

  13. lynncrf says:

What is the song in this? I love it.

  14. jade67231 says:

I’m going to continue ordering my burger without the bun. I think the burger should be cheaper too then. LOL I guess I’m dreaming..ha

  15. livinlowcarbman says:

Isn’t that the truth! But we’ll keep educating them to MAKE a button for us. :)

  16. swatkins1961 says:

No Button for that?….Hmmm…LOL, now that was a bit funny and so true, you can totally confuse them if you change the rules.

  17. livinlowcarbman says:

Yep, we’ve all been there before, right?

  18. quotidianlight says:

    That was painful funny! lol

  19. livinlowcarbman says:

Yep! Anything during Induction is good AFTER Induction.

  20. monet34 says:

Thank you so much for getting back to me so quick……I went to the store and got all those things thinking I could have it but something told me to check with you..:)
I WANT TO DO ATKINS BY THE BOOK lol
But…….will I be able to use these items after induction? (last question lol I’m not going to keep bothering you).

  21. livinlowcarbman says:

If you are following Atkins by the book, then:

    1. No
    2. Yes
    3. No
    4. Use heavy cream
    5. Yes
    6. No

But I would say if you want to incorporate any of those things into your Induction plan, just count the carbs and don’t go over 20g daily and you’ll be just fine. Hope this helps!

  22. monet34 says:
