Jimmy, thanks alot for the information on this episode! There were some facts that you mentioned that I had no Idea about. We dont’ have a captian D’s down here in Mission, Tx, but we do have some of those ther restaurants you talked about.
Salads are great on a low-carb diet, but they remind me WAY too much of a nasty, hunger-inducing low-fat diet. But you certainly can eat salads on low-carb…just stay away from the croutons and high-carb, low-fat dressings. I LOVE Ranch dressing the best…only 1g carbs!
but the salads are awesome…nothing is wrong with them i think..or is it too much vegetables?
Since we did this video, Wendy’s has added the Baconator which is a PERFECT low-carb meal if you ditch the bun.
That’s too bad…but you can still eat low-carb if you avoid the starches.
wat about wendy’s?…
we just got rid of the low carb meals at captain d’s.
Yeah, we’ve been to Olive Garden recently and they have some good options NOW! Just stay away from the breadsticks.
Great video series.
I agree with you on all the restaurant choices. Unfortunately, our selection is way limited. Olive Garden does have 1 or 2 low carb selections in a pinch. McD’s is easily available to me – I end up with a double Quarter pounder – no bun, no ketchup.
You can eat anywhere on low carb but it’s a whole lot nicer when mashed califlower is on the menu!

I guess if you got sunny side up eggs at IHOP you would be ok.
Thanks for the video, it was helpful to me and my husband. We just started a low carb diet. Wish us luck!!
THANKS Sherry! You can do this…just be sure you read the book first and then DO IT! I’m happy to help any way that I can, so don’t hesitate to e-mail me at livinlowcarbman at charter dot net.
I just love your video…never know what yall are gonna do next..lol I haven’t actually started the diet yet…still kinda checkin out all the videos and gettin back into the mindset for it, My hubby and I did low carb last year, but didn’t do very well…kept tellin him its still about the portions, but cant tell him anything..lol keep up the good work yall!!
I liked your video, however I have to say that since this way of eating, I don’t look forward to going out to eat anymore. This is not because I can’t eat the same. I just find I get better quality food at home and it’s cheaper. I eat to live not live to eat.. It can be hard when people don’t understand this. I never thought passing on Pizza would ever be so easy!
I agree the side salad is okay, but none of the other ones. And NONE of the ones they push. That oriental salad is just LOADED with sugar! I’d prefer to avoid Mickey D’s at all costs.
It comes down to what salads you are mentioning. Added sugar can be found in their signature salads. The side salad however is only green leafy stuff. As for dressing it is pretty horrid. If I’m forced to go to McDonalds, I usually get salad, and a big and tasty minus the ketchup and the bun. Not my favorite places to eat.
Actually, Taty4, McDonald’s does put sugar in their salads and I got confirmation of it from one of their nutritional advisers Dr. Dean Ornish himself. High fructose corn syrup is in it and the dressing. Check with them yourself if you don’t believe me. It’s true, though. Sadly.
McDonalds does NOT put sugar in their salads. Any form of sugar would come from croutons or dressing, ect. Statements like that have originated from the “Super Size Me” documentary with their old salads (full of processed meat and cheeses) If you stick to a side salad and go easy on the dressing you will be fine.
THANKS for watching, Renzo500! Check out ALL our videos.
funny stuff
I agree, there are MUCH better places to spend my money with companies who at least TRY to give me legitimate options for my low-carb lifestyle. It’s the only way these corporate giants learn their lesson.
Ah, so McDonalds was trying to pass a salad with sugar? Maybe the only good thing good there is water
But there is no need to go there, there are a lot of better places.
Yep, Hardee’s is one of the better ones if you stick with their low-carb options. Tell them NO KETCHUP on the Thickburger and it’s only about 4-5g carbs. WOO HOO! THANKS for watching, mrniceguy28431.
I am so glad you told me I can eat some fast food. I have a Hardee’s a couple of blocks over from where I work. You guys are the best.
EXCELLENT QUESTION and you’ll be pleased to know they recently updated their menu with lots of grilled options as well as veggie sides. So you can keep your low-carb commitment while eating out at Captain D’s. Good luck in the drawing.
