i hate “scientists” who put down the diet that is essentially what the human species was MEANT to eat … we’re carnivores and we’re herbivores …. not highfructose corn syrupivores!

OH MAN! I totally agree with you! Every time I take a break from the G.I diet a crave more and more and more bad carbs! When I see my weight begin to go up a few pounds I hop back on again and within a week my cravings have gone! I eat way less on the G.I diet in general.
Susan Jebb is a downright liar. How can she say that fat does not make people feel full? This is the opposite of the truth. Everyone and I mean EVERYONE on Atkins has experienced this. Carbs make you crave more and more carbs and never seem to fill you up. Jebb is a tool of the cereal producers. In their pay, and has NEVER been on a diet.
Well, this documentary is a load of horse shit. Low-carb does work and millions of people have proven it already with their blood work and weight loss. And no one is going to wait for years for the scientists to say if it’s healthy to do or not. Obese people don’t have time to waste. They need to lose weight now not when the scientists say ok go ahead. Also Humans evolved eating high protein and high fat, so there’s your long term study right there. They are so scared to admit they’re wrong.
LOL those guys are clearly eating alot of carbs. Of course they kept eating more. Do the same study with high fat, high protein, and low carb and they wouldn’t eat as much.

It is the protein that makes people feel full, Dyson. They did a study, here are the results. plain as day.
I’ve verified this for myself by eating most of a 1 pound tub of sour cream, major fat fest, with strips of green pepper. I did that on 3 occasions and I never did feel full.
But when I ate 2 hamburgers, or half a pound of cheese, THEN I felt full!
I keep saying an opinion without an data to back you up means nothing.
It’s not the protein that makes you feel full. Actually on a proper low carb diet only 20% of your calories should come from protein, and a whopping 70% of them from fat. Breaking down proteins for energy is a wasteful process that generates urea and ammonia.
The secret behind Atkins, low carb, paleo, etc, is the way they affect the INSULIN RESPONSE. Briefly: high insulin makes you fat. Eating fat does not overshoot your insulin. End of story.
I agree with another commenter, the High Fat diet was NOT low-carb, that was not good science.
Everyone should watch FAT HEAD (a film). The guy in the film loses MORE weight than he should have, counts every calorie, but ate low-carb. It’s not about eating less. Trust me, i’ve tried.
The group eating HIGH PROTEIN had to be eating a lot less carbs, carbs are what put weight on.

The high fat dieters eating pasta are the EXACT poster-boys for obesity HIGH CARBS + HIGH FAT. Adding a gallon of Crisco to pasta will not fill you up, that is not satiety.
If they had set up the dieters with
1) a High fat, low carb meal
2)High carb, low fat meal
and saw who ate more, then they would have more valuable statistics.

It didn’t matter my focus John. Chrisisms wasn’t interested in a rational debate. He was combative from the start and went downhill from there….The reference to meds took place after repeated personal attacks from chrisisms…
I think you’d be better off to focus on attacking the arguments rather than the person. You keep saying he needs meds. This is typically seen as a negative thing in debating.

Gee the melodrama. It’s not about more FAT, PROTEIN, it’s about the LACK of Carbohydrate. Did you notice that the two experiment was different? The first one had high fat dieters eating PASTA! The second experiment high protein people did NOT eat any carbs! These people call themselves “scientists” are merely morons.

I believe its also a physchological effect, when you are on a diet, you are told, what you can and cannot eat, and how many calories you can put in your body. This is added stress exspecially with low in fat diets, but when you are posed with the option of a diet that tells you “Go ahead, eat all you want of these foods, and guess what most of them taste great!” The pressure is off. Thats a suggestion for why people are eating less, its one less thing to take your stress out on.
This sounds like a good idea… but I like being regular… if you know what i mean.

Thanks again for providing an excellent example of an acculturated, omnivarian under the influence of pig tissue with NO experience on a natural diet and NO clue about digestion in general. Without numbers to back up your pig tissue cheerleading, you aren’t even wrong yet…
