I’m high CARB and proud of it! Whoohoo!!!

  2. brushfour says:

” A low carb diet, and a low calorie diet are extremely different.” Can you explain that statement? Low carb diets are NOT the front line right now in fighting Type II diabetes. Do not go low carb,…you’ll regret it.

  3. Eelbrood says:

This video is incredibly inaccurate and misinformed. Low carb and low calorie diets are extremely different. Lumping them together is irresponsible. A normal- calorie low-carb diet burns fat, not protein, does not increase insulin issues and does not cause diabetes. You are 100% wrong. The front line right now in fighting type-two diebetes is a low-carb diet, just the opposit of what you said. If someone dies following your horrid advice I hope their family sue you out of existence.

  4. brushfour says:

We’re not that different from each other. 99% of our bodies, the systems of the body, work by the same processes. That includes all the different blood types, both genders, ethnic backgrounds and on and on. We are WAY more alike then different. When it comes to losing weight, there are rules that no one can get away from. Fad diet guru’s have been pushing this idea that ” we’re all hugely different ” from one another for some time. It allows them to create an opening to sell people nonsense.

    Well, let’s see…tall /short, straight hair/curley hair, white/yellow/red/black skin, hairy/hairless,high cholestoral/low cholestoral, brown/blue/green/grey eyes, overbite/underbite, tongue rollers/nonrollers, lactose intolerant/nonlactose intolerant, pollen allergic/nonallergic, male/female, ecto/meso/endomorph, autistic/nonautistic, rational/clueless…guess our bodies really are SO different from one another, including body composition.

  6. enishicz28 says:

low carb diets actually increases insulin sensitivity, so it does not cause diabetes

  7. brushfour says:

…that you lost most or all fat!! You sound like you know what the heck you’re doing. I’ll bet you hit 188 lbs. rock solid. Most people aren’t able to do that because they won’t think it through, or get confused my Health magazines. I’m curious, how long did you take to drop the 30lbs.???

  8. brushfour says:

Those health magazines just don’t get it. They really promote the whole idea of low carb. They also push very hard the idea that certain foods melt-away fat. I’ve read some things about certain foods that might help control blood sugar or help satiate hunger throughout the day so you might not binge or eat recklessly. But even then, it’s still a calorie issue and anything about the food itself that’s melting anything. Geobros, something tells me that when you say you lost 30 lbs, I’m betting…

  9. geobros says:

exactly, how does mens health magazine alway get away with telling people to limit carbs to lose wieght… I wieghed 218 lbs 2 years ago, i ate tons of carbs and I now wiegh 188 if carbs were bad i would not have been able to lose 30 lbs

  10. BodyPerformanceTV says:

These side efects are created because of LOW CARB not low calories. You can eat tons of protein, have a high calorie diet and still experience these side effects because you’re not eating enough carbs.

  11. jwalsh8 says:

a 500 calorie deficit (for 1 pound/ 0.45kg per week weight loss) is the most effective weight loss deficit for SAFE WEIGHT LOSS. reducing anymore than that and you will end up seeing the side effects steve is talking about. I think it would have been better if steve mentioned that in the vid because i can understand why people r getting confused. he does talk about it in other vids.

  12. brushfour says:

One human body is not that different when talking about caloric burn and so forth. If our bodies were SO different from one another, no surgeon could ever operate. There are things that 99.99% of the population cannot get away from when talking about weightloss. The whole idea of everyone being SO different from each other is reinforced by phoney weightloss ads and people selling snake oil. It’s the premise that allows them to sneak in and convince people of anything. Pillsareyummy is right.

  13. jeasgr says:

One thing can work for one person but not another. It if were like that I would be so easy. Science has increase but not enough to keep up with disease. You got to try different theories and see which one works for your body.

  14. pillsareyummy says:

Actually, the ‘calorie theory’ IS a theory. In the same way that Gravity, Evolution, ect, are also theories. You got to member that the term ‘theory’ doesn’t mean the same thing as when people use the term colloquially. There are many opinions, however the consensus IS that caloric restriction leads to weight loss. Why? Because you need an ‘X’ amount of calories to ‘fuel the body’, if you don’t take in enough, your body burns the stored calories in your fat cells, or even muscle tissue.

  15. brushfour says:

I was about to say. The calorie ‘ theory ” is not a theory. Good point pillsareyummy!……they make these grand statements, with no follow up or documented scientific research of any kind. There have been times in that past where I was mislead by some nonsense regarding trying to manipulate calories or consuming different kinds of calories at different times. GOD,…it was all a bunch of bullshit!! BundleHastings, I think you need to review what a calorie…or a Kilocalorie is.

  16. pillsareyummy says:

Calorie theory has been disproved? Point me to the peer reviewed papers that state that the scientific consensus regarding caloric restriction and weight loss have changed. I’ll save you the trouble, you can’t…

  17. bundleHastings says:

Calorie theory has been disproved. Your info is many years out of date.

  18. brushfour says:

That’s correct pillsareyummy, you must lower your calories below what you’re burning. Naturally if you just lower them, but are still at a calorie surplus, you will just not put on as much weight.

  19. pillsareyummy says:

if you want to lose weight, you MUST lower your calories. That’s a scientific fact…

  20. lakebear08 says:

Stay with the system that works for you, i was using the low carb system back in 87, it did work for me, the only time i ever lost muscle was from cutting my calories to much along with to much cardio, i never did that again, pasta was my biggest downfall, it used to make me feel bloated, i admit i do love my carbs

  21. brushfour says:

Now that video was interesting! I’ve been posting on this whole Low carb thread for awhile, but..lol,…I’ve never actually played out Steve’s video until 2 minutes ago. God almighty is that why I lost SO much muscle? I don’t know if it was the protein or all the different kinds of fat, but I actually looked pretty healthy. But man, relatively speaking was I ever ” skinny fat.” Terrible body composition, terribly smooth. It was at times a bothersome and unsustainable diet. I longed for carbs.

  22. brushfour says:

Of course any bodyfat measuring device is not going to be totally accurate. The Hydro test or “water dunk” test has been the gold standard for awhile. Now I believe HEXA is the Gold standard. People asked me how I got so lean. I kept VERY good records of what reductions in waist and weight I was getting. Concentrated on losing 1/4 lb. per week for the last 8 weeks. (only 2lbs. in 2 months), by slightly cutting my daily calories and increasing my walking. Patience and thoughtfulness are the keys.

  23. brushfour says:

I’ve done calorie zig-zagging many times. I’m not sure if it did a darn thing. Many of these low carb/high carb…protein only, carb only rotation diets come from the Gym Rat network. They really have no basis in scientific fact. Uniform eating I believe is superior to any of this stuff. In 2002 I did a hydrostatic bodyfat test. I hit a very lean 3.77% bodyfat. Just cut your calories slightly and add a little more walking. You can keep all or most of your muscle and get as lean as you want.

  24. lakebear08 says:

if your a bodybuilder i would recommend only using low carb for 4 to 6 weeks no longer, zig zag your system, low carb and high carb days, on your high carb days work your large muscle groups and on the low carb days work the smaller ones, this works well, rice is the best energy source that i have found

  25. brushfour says:

I remember the feeling of the squat bar on my back during the year I ate low carb. So many times, instead of getting stronger or performing the same reps, I would pause for a second, look at myself in the mirror with that defeated look, as I would realize how damn heavy this bar on my back now feels. I could do 330 lbs X 7 reps. Over time I watched it drop to 5 reps and then 2 reps. I remember the day I took the bar off, looked at myself in the mirror…and said “Fuck it! “…and racked it.
