Dr. Fuhrman — Value of High Fat Foods
The importance of eating nuts and seeds for health, rather than oils and why super low fat eating is not ideal, and more about essential fatty acids. Olive oil is not good for your heart! High Protein Vegetarian and Vegan Foods and Meals
www.ttfatloss.com Check out this video to discover high protein vegetarian and vegan foods. You’ll be surprised by how much protein is in a lot of “so called low protein foods”. I’m sure this video will cause bodybuilders and protein supplement addicts to freak out. Here we have another episode of Craig in the Kitchen. Today we are talking about Vegetarian protein sources, and what’s in my cupboards. We’ve done my fridge, so today we’ll look at some of the foods that are surprisingly high in protein. Most people make a big deal out of protein, and for fat loss it’s a tricky subject. We aren’t going to go into too much detail in regards to that, but for muscle building, protein is actually overrated. If you’re eating a lot of calories, then you’ll have no problem getting your protein, even if you’re like me and following a vegan diet. So what are the protein sources that I’m eating? First of all, we have Ezekiel cereal. A lot of people ask me questions about this stuff, exactly, where they can get it? We have it in health food stores and some grocery stores. The Ezekiel cereal has 8 grams of protein per half cup serving and you all know how easy it is to get 1 or even 2 cups of cereal in your bowl. So, from that alone you’ll be getting a lot of protein, especially if you mix it with something like Hemp Bliss, a beverage containing 5 grams of protein Almond Breeze on the other hand, only has 1 gram of protein/cup. Another thing I eat a lot of is oatmeal, specifically …

Low Carb Foods – what fits in your Low Carb Diet?
A person starting a low carbohydrate diet needs to know which types of food he or she should consume and which ones to shun. Getting a list of low carb foods sometimes fools people into thinking that the diet is a hard thing to do. Instead of thinking “What can’t I eat?” you would be better off with a mindset that asks “What CAN I eat?” You will then discover that natural, low carb foods are in abundance everywhere! And you might just discover that you’re not missing the food that you were regretting giving up a short time ago.
Once you start your low carb diet, you will be pleased to discover the many things that you can keep on (and add to!) your shopping list. As a general rule, most high protein foods are allowable on your diet. So push your grocery cart to the meat section and feel free to plan meals that feature pork, beef, lamb, venison, and veal dishes. But be careful when it comes to processed meat; many of them are cured with chemicals or sugar, which can pack on the carbs.
Mosey along over to the poultry section and think about recipes for chicken, turkey, duck, and pheasant. These are rich in protein and other nutrients (but not carbs) and can be cooked and served in many attractive and great-tasting ways. Want to take advantage of the bounties of the ocean and lakes? Choose from among fish and other seafood, which are also high in protein and fatty acids that are good for your heart.
Feel like serving a salad as a side dish? You’ll be pleased to know that most salad vegetables are allowed on low carb diets. And this is a good thing because you should be getting your carbohydrate quota from vegetables, not from junk food, not from starchy goodies. Although the intake of a number of fruits should be kept to a minimum, fruits like berries can be enjoyed without guilt. What about snack food? Snacks exist in a reduced-carbohydrate diet, too, but not the processed kind. Go au naturel – nuts are perfect for something to munch on in between meals. They’re high in protein and contain the much-praised good oils and fats.
But what if you’re the type of person who’s all thumbs in the kitchen and can’t even scramble some eggs? You’ll be glad to know that there exist a wide variety of low carb convenience foods that will make your dieting life much easier. You can choose from juices, shakes, protein bars, morning cereals, pancakes and pancake syrup, baking mixes, cookie mixes, low carb bread and related products, even low carb chocolate cake and cheesecake!
Dairy products are encouraged in low carb diets. Most cheeses can be enjoyed either by themselves as a snack or as an ingredient in dishes. But keep in mind that cheese contains carbohydrates, so you should limit your portions. Eggs are perhaps one of the main staples of the controlled-carb dieter; they are high in protein, have no carbs, and are very versatile. Plus, they’re inexpensive, too! Drinking milk is also a good idea; it’s a good source of calcium. But if you are lactose-intolerant, it would be a good idea to drink milk in small quantities periodically until you find that you no longer have any adverse reactions to it.
Eating out also used to be a problem for low carb dieters. Restaurant staff didn’t have a clue about the carb content of food. Today however, many dining establishments have taken measures to accommodate carb-counting consumers. A number of them even list what type of low carb foods they offer and the nutritional information of each dish. Do you want a hamburger without the buns? A salad with low carb dressing? All of these and more are possible today.
As you have perhaps realized, finding low carb foods is not at all that hard, especially the natural ones. In fact, it’s entirely likely that you have been consuming these foods all your life without realizing that they are suitable for weight loss or weight maintenance. And if you concentrate on these foods, you’ll probably find that you won’t have time anymore to bemoan and worry about carbohydrate-rich foods that you have had to give up.
Low Carb Foods Can Make You Happy – Boost Your Mood With the Right Low Carb Diet Foods and Drinks
For low carb diet foods to make you happy, they need to be the right kinds of low carb foods and drinks. If you’re reading this and thinking about things like ice cream, cookies or sweet rolls as foods that make you feel good, that is not where we’re going with this. Also, we’re not talking about low carb snack foods that are usually lacking in any real nutrition. To understand precisely what we’re discussing, let’s take a look at how certain nutrients affect the brain, the nervous system and your overall mood.
Let’s say you’ve got an important business presentation and your nervous about standing up in front of a group of your peers. Which of these would you choose to calm your anxiety?
A. A diet soda
B. A glass of milk
C. A handful of Gummy Bears
D. A low carb food formula in a health drink
Believe it or not, C is a correct answer if you want a quick fix that’s not really very good for you in the long run. In some people, sugar from candy acts as a short energy boost followed by a quick drop while some people go straight to the crash. However, D, a low carb food formula in a health drink is the best choice. This is because liquids are digested more rapidly and absorbed right away. Assuming that your low carb diet food health drink is made with natural ingredients, including whole foods with complex carbohydrates, then you will gain the most calming effect.
If you thought a glass of milk was the best choice for relaxing, you should know that mixing protein with carbohydrates reduces the carb’s calming properties. So, next time you are eating a high carb cereal, don’t put milk on it if you want to feel less anxious as you get ready to face the day.
Drinking a diet soda with artificial sweeteners is the worst choice you could make. Low carb diet foods and drinks that contain aspartame and saccharin do anything but calm the brain and nervous system. Avoiding these chemical ingredients in low carb foods or drinks is always a good idea, but especially if you are trying to relax. Look for natural low carb drinks without artificial stuff.
The bottom line is that when you want to calm down, you can eat high carb foods, like potatoes, pasta, breads and other starches, or you can drink a naturally formulated low carb food mixture that will give you more benefits. Not only will your brain and nervous system get quick anxiety reduction, your body will get complex carbohydrates it can use for long lasting energy.
An ancient Chinese proverb states, “In times of stress, sweeten the tea”. Our ancestors commonly consumed a spoonful of honey before bed to induce restful sleep. This may run contrary to the popular opinion that sugar gives you quick energy. Instead, recent research suggests that, “all carbohydrates, including sugar and starches have the opposite effect on most ordinary people” (Food-Your Miracle Medicine by Jean Carper-Harper Collins Publishers-1993). There are numerous experiments that show carbohydrates to be more like mild tranquilizers than pick-me-ups.
How some high carb foods act as sedatives, according to experts, could be due to complicated biochemical reactions. One theory is that carbs clear the way for the brain to receive more tryptophan, an amino acid that gets converted into serotonin. Now, researchers are learning more about the ability of serotonin to act as a calming chemical in the brain and nervous system. That’s why you hear about people with low serotonin levels developing greater stress. If you are eating low carb foods on a regular basis and feeling some nervousness or overly revved up energy, make sure you are getting tryptophan and serotonin by eating the right low carb diet foods.

Get The Low Down On Low Carb Diet Foods
Carbohydrates come from a wide array of foods – bread, pasta, fruits, doughnuts, ice creams and pie. Carbohydrates refer to a group of molecules that is made up of small sugar units composed of carbon, hydrogen and oxygen. They are needed by the body and therefore included in our diet as a major source of energy. Some carbohydrates are simple and are made up of small units of sugars while others are made up of several units of sugar arranged in chains or branches. A healthy diet cannot go without these molecules.
Carbohydrates give body cells the source of energy to support all their activities. This is the reason why when the body’s sugar level is so low, the person experiences a feeling of weakness and lack of energy. This can be observed with diabetics when their blood sugar level go below the normal level. They also provide us with fiber, one of nature’s brooms to purge the body of toxins and waste materials. However, one major concern in carbohydrates is that when they are taken in excess, some of them get converted to stored forms such as fat and stored in certain tissues of the body, usually under the skin. This accounts for pot bellies and love handles and other unsightly bulges on certain areas of the body.
If you are very serious about trimming your waist and dropping pounds, one diet program that you might want to try is one that is low on carbohydrates. Low carbohydrate diet programs are quite popular these days in the form of the South Beach Diet, Atkins diet and Zone Diet. Basically these diet programs promote one thing: restriction of consumption of carbohydrates.
This is on the basis of researches that show the connection between high carbohydrate consumption affecting blood insulin levels to cause metabolic syndromes and obesity. Low carbohydrate diet programs therefore limit or replace foods rich in carbohydrates with those that contain more proteins, fats and fiber. In a low carb diet, there is less bread, pasta, potatoes, rice, and cereals. They usually eat more vegetables, meat, fish, cheese, eggs, and nuts. When one opts to go on a low carbohydrate diet, one has to replace carbohydrates with fats and proteins. Carbos in fact make up less than 10 percent, and in some cases, less than 5 percent of the daily calorie intake.
Low carbohydrate diet for one, go for foods that are low in sugar. Processed sugar should be greatly reduced, if not totally eliminated from the diet. Low carbohydrate diet food is made up mostly of vegetables, more specifically non- starchy ones. A serving of at least 3- 5 cups per day is highly recommended for this type of diet.
Protein is also an essential parts of a low carbohydrate diet so foods rich in it are highly recommended. One low carbohydrate but protein rich food is soy – based food like tofu and certain meat substitutes.
Fruits that are low in sugar are also tops in the list of low carbohydrate diet foods. A serving of 1-3 per day is enough. As much as possible, it is recommended to eat the fruit itself and to not simply drink the juice to also meet the body’s need for fiber and vitamins. Fruit juices also tend to increase the body’s blood sugar so it is best to eat the fruit instead.
Nuts and seeds as well as legumes are also some low carbohydrate foods that can be included in the diet. Nuts and seeds are even used by some to replace starchier foods. They are also excellent source of healthy oils and fiber. Legumes like beans and peas may contain carbohydrates but they are those that can easily be broken down and digested so there is no need to get rid of them entirely. The same thing is also true for whole grains like brown rice and whole grain pasta.
As for oils and fats, a low carbohydrate diet opts for oils coming from olives as well as from fish. Fish oil is rich in omega-3 which is good for the heart. So eating more fish to get the full benefits of omega 3 and protein is highly recommended too.
Going on a low carb diet does not necessarily mean sacrificing a lot of food and getting deprived. It simply means shifting to foods that are less in carbohydrates and more on proteins and even fats. The foods included in the low carb diet are even more flavorful since they contain proteins and fats.

Britain’s Really Disgusting Foods Part 6 of 6
This may not be necessarily LOW CARB but it does talk about some interesting items about the eating fresh and unprocessed items – as we know this is truly important with sticking to a low carb way of life! You are going to also see Gordan Ramsey of Hell’s Kitchen fame in a cameo but he is working with the enemy! Perhaps Gordan’s portrayal of always choosing the best foods are BS!…here is a description from the show Northern anarchist Alex Riley goes in search of the most disgusting thing …
Low Carb Foods Role in Weight Loss Diet Plan
There is possibly no effective weight loss diet plan without including low carb foods in it. Few years back the craze was with low fat or fat free diet for attaining and maintaining a healthy weight. In some ways, this craze was beneficial to health, but in some other ways, it was not. For example, fat free milk is good for health; however, low fat cookies may offer high calories almost similar to normal ones.
In recent years, the vogue aligns with low carbohydrate or in short, low carb foods. It is quite common to see in grocery shops that there are varieties of foods bearing low-carb labels on them. The list may include the food types of muffins, breads, pizzas, cakes, pasta, sandwiches, tortillas, cookies, beers and many others.
In general low carb diet prevents or strictly restricts bread, pasta and other starchy foods, particularly those foods made up of white flour. But it is not so rigid also; you can still have some bread while maintaining your healthy diet. There are a whole host of low carb foods available in the market. To stay on low carb diet, obesity is not the only condition. You can even switch to it, if you are just calorie conscious. Theoretically, low carb foods offer low calories, so logic says that these foods are helpful in maintaining health.
Research on Low Carb
Some studies claim that people living on low carb foods actually eat more than people in standard low fat plans, however, the former group still loses weight than the later group. However, the report is strongly controversial in nature such as Atkins diet, which claims that low carb foods actually consume more calories.
The research supporting the benefits of low carb diet claims that low carb diets are more rewarding, so they do not feel hunger. According to Atkins diet, people in low-carb, high-fat diets eat more than people in standard diet.
Requirements of Vitamin Supplements
If you are in low carb diet, it is essential that you must take vitamin and mineral supplements. In fact, we become overweight due to the fact of our addiction over eating foods high in carbohydrates, but lack in carbohydrate may result in nutritional deficiency. So vitamin and mineral supplements are necessary. It is always advisable that you should take your vitamin supplement before going to bed.
Water Cure
Water is life, water means life we all know that we can’t live without water. Water is also necessary to cleanse your system. It helps in maintaining proper kidney and liver functions. The usefulness of water temperature does’t really matter. Some prefer cold water, whereas some prefer to stay with lukewarm as well.
Complications during low carb diet
Some people report few common complications during their low carb diet program. One of such complication is bad breath. It occurs mainly due to ketones production. Ketones are produced when body fat is converted into energy. However, not all the ketones contribute to bad health, but many people simply quit from low carb program because of bad breath problem. In addition to bad breath, some people also experience intense odor in perspiration.
Additionally, the experience of leg cramps is also reported by few people on low carb diet. It is typically occurred during the initial phases of the low carb diet program. Inadequate vitamin and mineral supplements are believed to be the primary causes of leg cramps.
Controversy
However in practice, the concept of low carb foods is not what it is claimed. The benefits found from these foods are questionable. Some researchers even claim these foods as a way for nutrition loss rather than weight loss. Some of the weight loss programs suggest replacing carb foods with protein ones, but the level of calorie consumption does’t really differ. Moreover, the foods labels do not carry any meaning, because there is no definition of low carb approved by FDA.
