Net Carbs vs. Net Effective Carbs – Marketing Hype
In the next video of the “How to” Atkins low carb videos, I discuss the issue of “net carbs” vs. “net impact carbs” (or “net effective carbs”). Net impact carbs is found throughout the marketplace as vendors are lobbying for the low carb market. I define net carbs as strictly as possible for me, which is grams of Total Carbohydrates minus grams of Fiber. The marketers would rather have you believe that the Sugar Alcohols do not count. The reality is that they do count in more ways than one. Not only do they count from 25-75% as much Sugar, they also have some pretty negative side effects. They have been shown to cause both gas and diarhea in a number of people. This is due to them not being digested before the large intestines, which leads to the bloating. You might be among the fortunate few that are not as gastric affected by sugar alcohols. Your brain might hamper your weight loss efforts with a cephalic insulin reaction. Low Carb Dieting – It’s not About Eliminating Carbs
The low carb diet revolution may have slowed down a bit, but the fact is that there are so many people that have just starting this style of diet plan. With all of the yoyo diets around, people are looking for a true diet plan that will aid in shedding off the pounds quickly. The biggest question when it comes to low carb eating is how healthy is it?
Traditionally, calories were what dieters counted. They had charts and scales to insure that they were eating the right amounts of food at a certain caloric level each day. Although trimming calories can result in weight loss, it is not the goal for a person following the low carb way of eating.
So what is it that low carb eaters count? Just as the name implies, it is the amount of carbohydrates that is the significant part of the plan. What many people don’t understand is how it works.
When you keep your carbohydrates down to a certain level, your body looks for a source for energy. Since there is a reduced level of carbohydrates, your body then goes down to the next step…burning fat. Yes, fat can be used as an energy source. Keep in mind that you are still eating the minimal amount of carbohydrates, not eliminating them from your diet.
In a traditional diet, people stay away from fatty foods. If you are using the low carb diet plan, you will be eating fatty foods. Whether you are eating a steak, some fish, or even nuts, there are oils and fats that you’ll be consuming. What you must consider are the types of fat that you’re eating…as there are bats that are bad for you such as the ones in margarine. These are often referred to as trans-fats.
So will your health improve or go down the hill while following the low carb diet plan? While following this diet, your insulin levels will decrease, your cholesterol will lower, your blood pressure will lower, and your blood sugar levels will stabilize. This are all moving you into a healthier position.
Another thing to consider is your nutrition. While eating low carb foods, you may be reducing nutrient rich foods which can be high in carbohydrates. So it’s important that your body gets all of the vitamins, minerals and fiber so that your body gets the recommended daily levels. The easiest thing to do is take nutritional supplements.
Just remember, everybody is different. Remember to ask a diet professional about any diet advice, especially if you have pre-existing health problems. This diet does change your chemistry to burn fat, so it’s important that you do it in the correct way.

Low Carbs Diet – Are They Good Or Bad For You?
The dieting and weight loss industry is always in the headlines. if its not one celebrity diet then its about a celebrity in question. He/she has lost weight or put on weight.
In the news this morning as i was getting through my morning body weight workout i heard that there is a new dieting pill out over the counter. Its 60 dollars a month to maintain the prescrition. Gosh that’s a lot of mulah!
To day i want to talk about Low Carb Diet and if it is good or bad for you.First i will explain what low carb diets consist of.
The low carb diet is one of the quickest diets that will strip you of body fat. Thelow carb diet does not require calorie counting or severve restricting what you eat.
You may be wondering how this works. To give you a brief overview:
For your body to operate in harmony, it needs energy. Carbohydrates, fats, and, to a lesser extent, proteins are used to burn fuel to create energy. Carbs are the body’s first option and it is critical to avoid consuming carbs when you are not active.
This is because carbs that are not used turn immediately to fat. However, if you dramatically reduce the amount of carbs you consume your body will shift to burning stored fat. That means when you reduce your carb intake you lose weight.
Carbs include, fruit, vegetables, sugars, rice, bread, and starches. During the early stages of a low carb diet, it is necessary to completely eliminate all carbs. Instead, replace them with meats, chicken, fish, eggs, cheeses, and other low/no carb foods like fruits and vegetables. This way, the carbs in your system are burned up. Once they are gone and not replaced, you will drop a great deal of retained water (Carbs are a major culprit of water retention) and then you will start to metabolize your stored fat.
Another thing to note is that if you increase your activity status i.e exercise you will lose fat even further, this is because exercise requires a great deal of energy expenditure.
So when you are working out no carbs are used to fuel your workouts because you are not consuming them. The next available fuel is fat, so fat will be burned instead thus reducing your fat stores in the long run.
So as you can see low carb diet is good for weight loss. Also on a low carb diet you don’t have to exercise as hard as someone who is not on a low carb diet because any individual who is on a low carb diet will be buring more fat even at rest.
